Handheld CB radio information please?

i have recently purchased the radio shack handheld CB radio an i live right beside the interstate an having trouble picking up people on channel 19 an thats odd because most truckers use channel 19 can anyone give me some tips to make my radio better an explain to me why i cant pick up anything?

To correct the other person, your handheld cb puts out the maximum wattage of 4 watts. The reason you are getting such poor reception may be due to the buildings construction material. Often, the culprit may be metal rafters or rods. Another may be electrical wiring in your home. If you can, try getting a magnet mount cb antenna and connect it to the radio. If there is no way to detach the rubber duckie antenna from the radio, my suggestion is to put the radio near a window or in an area that's closer to the highway.

your hand-held might only be a 2 watt radio. you might can try a out side antenna. go get yourself a mag-mount base with a Max-scan ant. its frequency range is 5-900 meg.
