Valentine's Day is good for the economy because it provides impetus for people to go out and buy useless products that create slow sales for most of the rest of the year.However for the Christian community it should be a genuine spiritual wake-up day;instead of spending money to worship the human flesh,how much better it would be to take the same amount of money and invest it in God's work.It really comes down to what you want to worship in life,God or the flesh.
Luke 14:25-27
25 Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, 26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, WIFE and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
TRANSLATION:We must love Jesus so much that we will sacrifice our own lives to serve Him and dedicate ourselves to Him and His teachings alone.
INSIGHT: Dedication is characterized by the expenditure of love,time and money;exactly what most people lavish on their lust of the flesh spouses,most especially on Valentine's Day,leaving God with the left over scraps from their lives of selfish indulgence.
QUESTION:Why would Jesus want to invite anyone living a life of idolatry to live with Him for all of eternity?
FOLLOW UP QUESTION: Do you really think He is dumb to the point of being ignorant of His own teachings about sacrificing our own lives for Him just as He did for us?
