Has anybody had any problems with Citroen C1 Gearbox?

I have a 3 year old Citroen C1 with 11,000 miles clocked, whilst on a short journey I changed gear heard a horrible noise Immediately stopped car to be towed to a local garage by the AA.
The garage tells me the gearbox is knackered and will cost £650 to replace faulty parts thats if it can be done they may even be talking new gearbox at a cost of £2000

Undoubtedly some of these will fail quickly as others will last the rest of the car out and all between that - you have been unlucky.
