Has anyone heard the banshee scream or know what that would mean?

Banshee -- the woman of the fairy mounds

They will scream when the death of someone is near and some can hear them -- they say - They scream in order to warn you that the death of someone is close at hand

--- I have heard people talk about them ( not for a long time ) and claim to hear them -- and each time someone did die soon thereafter

I have never heard them --

Have you ?

Isn't that a little like me refusing to believe in Peru because I have never met or seen anyone from there but only heard of others who made claims that it existed?

Sounds dreadful. Probably just the scream would give me a heart attack.

No, but I have heard my neighbor's cat howl like a banshee when she's in heat.

Be glad you've never heard them, for this would mean that you were suffering from psychosis, as there are no "banshees".

It is Celtic folklore. I've heard of the banshee, but never heard one since they are completely fictional.

No, it isn't. There's a big difference between skepticism and utter stupidity.

And speaking of utter stupidity, your question implies that just because you hear a story, it must be worth investigating.

answer: I've not. Around here if you hear a non-human scream it's likely a mountain lion. Not sure if the Banshee crossed with the family in the 1600s.

I have heard *of* them, but never heard one, as they are made up.

Being of gypsy descent, I believe they are the crys of foxes or owls (both kind of scary), which are also omens of death.
