question!? In places like Applebee's, Olive Garden, Houlihan's, Chili's, and other similar chain restaurants, the food can often taste pretty good and the ambience is very child-friendly for our toddler, but more often than not we've found the food to be EXTREMELY SALTY...

Do the cooks/chefs at these types of places add salt to their foods, or is that already done before the food arrives to the restaurant?

In other words, would it do any good to ask them to avoid over-seasoning the dishes? Or just to leave the salt off, and I can add it myself at the table? (I thought that the meals at these places are pre-prepared for each restaurant, so if they're just heating it up, then they wouldn't have any control over the salt?)
