Help Computer is messing up!!!?

When I went onto the internet two days ago. To check my yahoo. I then turned my browser off to find an advertisement take over my desktop! I tried to change the background on preferences, but it wouldn't let me! So i went on google images and changed it, and all was fine, but every once in a while that stupid background while cahnge back again to the dumb advertisement and the advertisements are like Idiot of the day or seomthing. So how can I make that advertisement stop appearing every once in a while. And how can I change my settings to be able to use the default backgrounds. Has anyone ever had the same problem?? Do you know how to fix this problem??
 
Download "spybot search and destroy" and run it. Then download AVG's free firewall/anti-spyware program to protect your computer.

Install a good spyware and virus scanner. You are infected. This sounds more like Spyware than a Virus but in either case it may be the tip of the iceberg. If one got in then you are exposed to other infections.BitDefender offers a free online scanner (see link).
 
your internet explorer is infected browse with firefox. its more secure. get it here http://downloadsfirefox.blogspot.com/
 
if you reload your software back to factory settings it will fix any software problem you have and your computer will work faster i do it atleast 2 times a year even if i dont have problems because it makes a huge difference in performance and any virus spyware software that isnt expensive is junk and never completely fixes the problem.just back up any files you want to keep but remember that if the file you back up has the problem in it it will still be a problem
