I recently went through all my books from growing up, only to find that one in particular was missing. It was the first "real" book I read, but it was so long ago the details are vague at best. I know the criteria I am about to list describe probably a few thousand books, but my hope is that this book was popular and that someone will recall it, or at least offer a few examples I can follow up on.
Keep in mind any of the points I am about to list may be incorrect, so feel free to name any examples that don't match up entirely, and I can follow them up.
Here's what I can recall:
About a young boy and his adventures around his home town
Set in 40s/50s small town and/or outskirts of farm area
Might reference a wagon in the title, or at least the book
Recall the boy talking with his mom here and there
Novel like, not a picture book (though I think it did have some pictures)
Seem to recall it was an old green binding, possibly written in the 50s or earlier.
Perhaps 7" x 5" x 1/2" thick
Again, I realize the potential impossibility of answering such a question, but I do very much appreciate any thoughts on the matter.
