HELP! HELP! HELP! How do I delete words on iPad?

I guess whenever I type an unfamiliar word on the iPad, it stores it and shows up when I happen to type the same letters as the unfamiliar word. I don't know how else to explain it. For example, the ipad doesn't recognize the word, "elephant", but I typed it in before. Now, when I type "el" on a search bar or something, beneath it will show "elephant". Is there some kind of thing in the settings where I can disable anything that has to deal with words being suggested? I typed something that wasn't supposed to, and it shows up whenever I try to type it. It's not even my ipad, and I'm afraid whenever the owner stumbles upon it, they'll see that word.

PS: I've reset the keyboard dictionary, but the unfamiliar words keep showing up! HEEELP, i'm panicking.

Apple being way too helpful that it's annoying.

Wouldn't it be ah so nice to be able to hit the command line or install a simple hack to turn that annoying behavior off? Like you can on a open computer like a Mac?

Alas, the iPad is a closed device, you suffer in Apple iOS hell.

PS I'm a 20 year Mac user. Woz was right and Jobs was wrong.
