Help looking at my first truck?

Right now I am looking at a 1995 Ford F150 4x4 about 179 k on it, but people are telling me the truck when they drove it that the pedal would stick to where they would have to stomp the pedal for it to even accelerate? Why is this? Does it have something to do with the butterfly valve? If not please tell me what you know before I go any further with this truck.

good truck ! that could be a weak return spring on the accelerator linkage ! yes the butterfly up in the throttle body could be hanging up because of carbon !
