Help on Blogger.com-adding gadgets and tickers!?

I have a pregnancy blog [babypoeschel.blogspot.com] at blogger.com and I'm trying to add a pregnancy ticker on there. I use countdowntopregnancy.com for babycenter.com, but it wont work for blogger. Do you know of any sites where the tickers work good? And also, I started cruising other blogs and I see some amazing set ups, do you know of any sites with good tips to make a good looking blog?
