My friend convinced me to join our schools snowboard club.
I have never snowboarded in my life and i dont know anything about it.
I'm around 5'6 feet and 120 pounds. Shoe size is between 8-9.

i do wakeboard, so is this going to help me with snowboarding?
Also what gear do i need? - im buying not renting.
Size board?
Anything i need to know about snownboarding?
And any tips?

since your a wake boarded i think it gives you a great advantage.... ive been snowboarding for years and went wake boarding for the first time this summer and i was jumping the wake, throwing grabs and riding switch my first day out there

on the gear end you would need board, bindings, boots, goggles, gloves, jacket and pants

ironiclly even though im a guy i am aswell 5'6' i am 129 lbs and i am a 9.5 shoe so you about my size

i would go with a 148-151 size board to start with then go shorter if ur more park or longer for more speeding... stay in the middle for all mountain

I would recommend any Lib Tech or Gnu snowboard they make the best boards out rite now with either Union or Ride Bindings

Boots I would go with ThirtyTwo's

Take a lesson or do what I did go to the top of one of the hardest trails drunk and wing it.... Otherwise be safe and have fun!

I can see how snowboarding can be relating to wakeboarding because its more or less the same concept. Riding a board with both feet in boots strapped to the board carving through water like snow. Snowboarding can be very painful, but you can avoid it easily. Just take everything slow and do things only that your comfortable with.

Snowboarding is my favorite sport. One thing that most people don't realize is that it can be VERY painful. One of the best ways to avoid severe pain is to stretch for at least 15 min. before and after your time on the mountain. Another great way to avoid pain and injury is to buy and use a helmet. Knowing how to wakeboard should help you learn how to snowboard quickly. Try to break the speed of sanity and avoid cat tracks.
