OK, so I've burned discs for years and had no problems but lately I have run into a very confusing issue. I am trying to burn CD-R discs for use in CD players, car stereos etc but I'm often not able to burn to 700mb/80 min CD cos what I am trying to burn is too big.

Here's the issue though. For example, today I am trying to burn to cd a 12 track album, which runs less than 80 mins. The files are 320kbps mp3 files and all twelve together are 95mb in size.

When I try to make an audio CD however, they come up as 723mb and they are two big to burn to 700mb cd. This has happened loads lately and I have got loads of discs that are too big to burn to dic, even though the collective file size is well below 700mb. Now I'm assuming the file sizes obviously increase or something when making an audio cd. I don't want to reduce quality and I don't want to make an 'mp3 cd'.

Any help?
Ok, so answer this question - The 12 tracks I am trying to burn have off a standard CD, 700mb. SO why wont they go back onto one??? Answer that

CD DVD BURNING
you can only put a film on a CD if~
1 The film fits i.e. it is not over 70/80 minutes (depends on CD size)
2 You put it on as data if you try to convert a film onto a CD the drive will not recognize there is a disk in.
To put a film on a CD ~IT WILL ONLY PLAY ON YOUR PC,
you must burn it as "data"
To burn as data or put music and films on CD/DVD’s or copy music and films I use this
it is free ~ http://freeeasyburner.com
try as well~
http://k-litecodecpack.com this makes sure the data CD plays
if you have DVD’s
you can get up to 6 films on 1 DVD as data
if it is a film you have downloaded and want to watch on your tv using a dvd player you need a conversion program
http://sothink_dvd_movie_maker.ensoftoni...
is a free one
download ~soft and k-lite
this needs a dvd to be put on
if you need more info edit your question
hope this helps. Good luck!

Most audio mp3 file size's are 4mb-8mb. mp3 files are compressed and is why they are small. The files can't be compressed on a cd, because audio player's weren't made to decompress data.

The files change size when you make them into an audio cd format, each file's size becomes ~60mb, and a full cd is 12-15 songs, totaling around 600 to 700 mb.

Delete a couple of songs. Trust me, I'm right.

As long as the total combined running length of the tracks is less than 80 minutes, they should fit entirely on the disc.

Have you added any of the songs to the CD twice (i.e. created more than 12 tracks)?

Is the CD burning software trying to put gaps between the songs, (e.g. 5 second gaps), taking the total time above 80 minutes?

If so, set it so that it either doesn't have gaps, or has shorter ones. You might need to burn the disc in Disc At Once (DAO) mode rather than Track At Once (TAO) for this to work.

By the way, if you still have access to the original audio CD that the tracks came from, doing a direct CD to CD copy (i.e. NOT converting to MP3 first) will result in better quality.
