Help With DivX Author!!?

I tried to burn a file to disc using divx author it all worked fine apart from it doesn't play. My DVD player is having none of it, could this be because it's not compatible with DivX, and them on my comp it doesn't play with WMP it only play with DivX. WHY!? I used to use convertXtoDVD and that worked fine no problems, but thought DivX Author would be far superior.Any one had any advise? The help section on DivX is rubbish that'sall.
