Help with formatting an unpublished manuscript.?

I was wondering if someone could direct me to a web site that provides specific details about how to format an unpublished manuscript in a fashion that publishers are typically asking for. It appears that there is very conflicting information available and none of the publishers' websites that I have visited provide any information in this regard.
