I have a Gateway NV53A laptop less than 4 months old. It comes with a 8x super multidrive which does all the burning of cds and dvds etc. However, for some reason, its only says its a CD drive in my computer I cant burn anything etc. All the system info things say its a dvd burner though. Im thinking is the drivers but I can find the driver for an optiarc AD-7585H help please!?!?!?

No driver needed. The software is what makes it burn. Right click "Computer" on your desktop, manage, device manager, dvd/cd rom drives , right click the drive in question, uninstall. Ok out of the prompts and restart your computer. Windows will reinstall the drive automatically and it should work fine.

You can also try reinstalling the burner software from the drivers and software disk that came with your computer.

The fix it might do the trick as well: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us
