Help with meeting my girlfriends dad?

I've been with her for about a year, but he hasn't really shown that he wants me to be with his daughter. I've tried talking to him but when my girlfriend asks he says he doesn't wanna meet me. Last time we tried it it was about 5 months ago. I was wondering if it would be better to just go to his door and ask if i can speak with him? or have my girlfriend ask him again?
