Help with unlocking tmobile dash to use on ATT network?

I just signed up with ATT, had a phone tmobile brand phone, the Dash and the sim cards fit, so I assume they can work with one another. When I turned on my phone It says " Network is locked. Please input unlock key." What is this, where do I get it and can I even do this? please email if you can help and need to ask more questions.
