I'm writing a comparative essay on City of the Beasts by Isabel Allende and Requiem by Anna Akhmatova. However, I'm completely stuck at the Introduction. I need to compare the roles of symbolism, and the only thing I have so far is this;
"Although the novel City of the Beasts and the poem Requiem both have a different plot, both Isabel Allende and Anna Akhmatova both use symbolism to contribute to their separate plots, themes and purposes. "
I've also no idea how to construct three arguments for the role of symbolism in a text. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
