Hi - Can someone help me with a smartphone wi-fi/internet question?

Hi there - This will sound like sort of a newbie question. :-)

I'm wanting to order a smartphone type of phone tonight.
I was looking at different phones, and some say they are Wi-Fi capable. I was leaning toward getting something like this.

But then, I just noticed on my cell bill, that I pay $5 extra for WAP (or something like that) that allows me to use internet.

Sooo.. my question is: Can I skip paying the extra for a wi-fi phone since I pay this $5 extra every month that states it's for internet, anyway?

By the way, I'm choosing between:
Motorola Q9c
Motorola Q9m
Motorola Q

No, because WAP is the browser a regular cell phone uses & your getting a smartphone that requires that you use HTML web browsing.
but you could use wi-fi so that you don't have to pay for the HTML web browsing ever month.
