...have a data plan. Is there a way? I can download something to get AIM to work without having the blackberry data plan?

(it tells me to access www.blackberry.com/aim but it keeps saying "u do not have access to this site" it says that for every site even though I am connected to my home wifi network")
 
No, you cannot do anything that requires the internet without a data plan.
