hi, my ex has forged my name to get the car into his name?

i got a car in finance for my partner at the time. he was paying the monthly instalments which i didn't have a problem with. we split about a year later but he was still paying up until he lost his job. my parents kindly started to pay for it. The car was also in my name till one day he said he had it changed over into his name. i didn't think much of it at the time. now my ex is driving round in my car my parents are paying for and have now realised he must of forged my name for it to be put into his name. he reckons i did sign it over but i know i would of never done that. does anyone have a clue what i should do about it. x
 
the registered keeper is different from the legal owner. so who ever paid for the car by cash or loan or whatever method is the owner of the car. he must be able to prove he paid you in full for the car or the car will be returned to you.
