hi my mother has lost her passport ,?

my mother last used her passport in march and thinking it would be in the same place she usually keeps it , looked and it wasnt there, shes due to go on holiday in 6weeks
it still has 5 years on it can she apply for replacement and how much will that cost?
 
she needs to ask the place that gives out passports where you live.
