ok today i was leaving a parking lot and somehow wasn't watching what i was doing good enough and forgot the parking lot was kinda narrow and ended up backing into another car. there were two women standing right there who saw it so then i was like god i'm in big trouble. then i freak out and just leave a piece of paper with my number on the windshield after waiting a few minutes and i'm sure the women standing there saw me do it. then i left and saw those women leave too. but then i noticed the store i was parked close to have security cameras right by the entrance and i'm not sure if those cameras would've seen into the parking lot. i came back and waited for the owner of the car i hit to come back and i think he might've been an employee of that same store. he didn't notice the scratch and i'm hoping he won't for awhile. anyways his bumper just had some paint taken off (it's black so where the paint came off it's not too noticeable) and his car is like 15 years old anyways. but i'm still stressing out about this. should i? cuz i asked my mom and she just since it's older and it's just a scratch just to take the piece of paper off the car and forget about it. i'm just so worried somehow i'll get caught cuz of the surveillance by the entrance. what do you think?

If you left a note and waited a reasonable time then you are absolved of hit and run. I would pay the owner a $1-200 to keep it off the books.

SOoOOO mom thinks it is OK to lie cause the car was OLD, well guess what bet your mom would pitch a huge fit if someone hit her car old or not, this is just another example of people not standing up and being accountable for there actions.go back and leave a note or find out who owns the car, explain what happened, if damage is minimul they will probably not even worry about it. This is a life lesson, learn and move on. not only that but if persons car that was hit is way dishonest he can get a jacked up estimate and sue in court, so a $50 ding is a $500 dent. plus if you feel this bad, just think how you will feel in 2 weeks

you did everything you could have. i would wait it out. if i don't get a call then it might have been one of two things. either he didn't care or he doesn't have the insurance to pay for his POS car. but yeah what dude said above me. he can't really do crap since it is in a private lot. so you won't be charged with hit and run.
