I asked this question in the C70 Passport group, but I thought I'd give it a shot here, too. I have an '82 Honda Passport. My carb was leaking like crazy. Instead of spending $120 on getting it overhauled again, I bought a brand-new Taiwanese one from www.dratv.com for $42. I put it on today, and the bike starts very hard. It'll run at wide-open throttle, but it won't idle and will barely cruise at a steady speed. The mixture screw was set at 3 turns out. I tried turning it all the way in, out 1 turn, 2 turns, 3, 4 - nothing worked. I had to use the slide assembly/carb top from my original carb (cleaned it very well). The choke might not be quite right, but it should at least idle; it did before when the choke was on unnecessarily. I know it's running rich from the exhaust smoke and you can hear every time the cylinder fires/misfires, where before you couldn't. Anybody have experience with this carburetor?
