my husband and i just recently bought a home stereo to hook up to our tv. however he decided the bass wasn't good enough so he bought a separate 250 watt ultra linear powered sub woofer to attach to the stereo. now we cant seem to figure out how to get it all working properly. i don't know what were doing wrong but we just cant seem to get the sub working. the stereo works fine but we are lost on what were doin wrong. please help!

You need to look for the plug that says
sub pre out". Stereo receivers do not have this out put. You need to buy a receiver that is 5.1 and higher. From there you can still run stereo sound or surround sound with the sub woofer.

Okay, let's see... Have you hooked up the powered sub to the stereo's
preout(s) or SUB output? Some subs need a lot of input to activate the
auto-on feature. If this is the case, you may just want to set the power
switch to ON instead of AUTO (i.e. ON/AUTO/OFF switch is common).

If none of the above is getting the job done, then consult both your sub-
woofer's owner's manual as well as your stereo's manual for instruction
of hook-up and trouble-shooting. Then, once you get it to work, just do
some adjustments to the crossover point and volume on the subwoofer
to get it to blend in with your speakers.

Happy listening!
