I've already had a search around on Google for this. Most of it's just; rope halter, tying to something solid and giving to pressure.
My horse is usually a really laid back guy, he goes to sleep while he's tied up but today he just kind of snapped while being tied. There was nothing out of the ordinary going on.
I use a rope halter on him and a lead rope that has a fair amount of elasticity. He was tied to a piece of bailing twine attached to a metal fence. For some reason the bailing twine didn't break instantly, he was on his haunches with his head up in the air pulling as hard as he could until it finally gave way and snapped.
He did it again when I went to get my tack out of the shed. It's almost like a psychotic episode where he doesn't give a rat's about the rope halter pulling on his poll.
I'm not up for a quick release knot in his favour, I don't want him to pull as a habit and that's that.
I tried leaving him tied for a while, the only problem is he was perfectly fine. I don't want to leave him tied for an hour punishing him for something he's not doing.
Is there anything I could try?
