the littlest satellites are about the size of a basketball.

the biggest are almost as big as a semi-trailer.

most are the size of a filing cabinet.

I heard two satellites crashed into each other recently. There's supposedly a lot of debree. Someone relate a satellites size to something on earth, thanks.

A few hundred pounds to many thousands of pounds. The Space station was built in pieces over many years and is still not finished.

To put a pound of anything into orbit cost $5,000 -$10,000.

Objects in near earth orbit must be going at least 17,000 miles and hour. A rifle bullet weighing a fraction of an ounce goes about 1000 mph (roughly). energy goes up by the square of the speed so a bullet in orbit would do about 400 times as much damage as one on earth. the smaller of the two colliding satellites weighed about 1500 pounds I think. You would not want to be anywhere near that collision. Where did the pieces go? Into other orbits where they can hit other of the thousands of satellites up there.

"you aint seen nutten yet kid, we is in BIG trouble in the space business."
