how big does a truck need to be to haul a 5th wheel?

i have a fullsize truck ...its a 1500 and it says the maximum tow weight is 5,000 lbs. my friend says i need a 2500 or 3500 to tow a fifth wheel. just wondering if any of u out there also think shes wrong
sry i forgot to mention it is a 3/4 ton... i was just readon the book on it and noticed
and yes it is most definaly a full size

Depends on how big the 5th wheel trailer is and what kind of truck.
You can easily pull a 20 foot 5th wheel trailer with a 1/2 truck. The only difference between a 3/4 ton and a 1/2 ton are the springs and the rear end. They have the same motor and transmission so power is not a problem. as long as the suspension can hold the weight then it is not an issue.

But yes your friend is right

maza what are you smoking to make you think that a 1/2 truck is not a full size? It has the exact same size frame body and drive train as a 3/4 ton truck has. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE is the suspension and the rear end.

EDIT if you have a 1500 truck that is a 1/2 ton not a 3/4. A 3/4 ton is a 2500
