I got my driver's license two months ago. I don't have a car except the SUV Im allowed to drive. I understand my parent's concern for my safety, to drive the safest car possible. However, I have several issues to confront.

I am head of the Environmental Preservation Club, and we JUST campaigned AGAINST SUV's. Wouldn't it be hypocritical to drive one three weeks later? This is one of the major reasons. The reason I was okay with my mother driving the SUV was because it was her choice, and because we NEEDED it. Between soccer practice, and trailing the Pixel sailboat for my brother, we used it. I wouldn't need it like that. I just use it to get groceries, practice, and occasionally school.

I generally drive alone, after getting my full license. But why do I need a 7 seater car?

I guess I'll be riding my bike for a while =) When I'm out of college with a steady-ish job, will that be the only time I can really afford insurance and a new nice small car?

Well if you have no money to pay for a new one and your parents won't buy a new one your kinda sorta stuck w/ it. This is exactly the corner I got stuck in. I'm 16 and I was the last one to get my license in the family and I got stuck w/ the Chevy Silverado 1500 w/ a bigass V8 engine. I get like 18 mpg on the highway :( and I have to pay for the gas :((((((((((
