How can i broadcast my system sound in a chat room?

i know it's possible using Stereo Mix, but it's been a long time that i didn't do that anymore! can anybody help me with it? and how can i recognize that my sound card support it or not? if not what can i do? i am using a VAIO® Notebook model CR240...
