Believe it or not, this is really easy!! you are just going need to have some guts.
Run your hand along the top of speedo unit, you will feel 2 retaining lugs with 2 screws (torx screws). Remove these screws.
With a flat bladed screw drive ------GENTLY------ wedge it in between the top of the speedo and the dashboard, then give it another gentle giggle. The speedo will now fall flat.
At the back of the Speedo, you will have 3 connectors, 1 taco. + Temp., 1 speed and 1 fuel, Remove these connectors.
NOW, in the books it say you can't take the speedo out without removing the steering wheel.......not True, if you pull the speedo out, so it is sitting against the back of the steering wheel, then turn the wheel anti clock wise, with abit of a squeeze, it will come out.
Thats the hard part out the way.
Look at the back of your speedo, you will notice tons of little bulbs at the bottom and the sides of it, Leave these as they are the lights for the Handbrake, indicators etc. What you need to change is the big ones near the speed and taco meters, if i remember correctly, there should be 2-3 on each.
Next thing, no need to get LEDS, you can get blue bulbs that fit straight in to the original bulb holder, so less messing about. i have had mine for the pass 2 years and they still working, looking great and just as bright.
