How can I download a new font to Open Office 2.3?

I am using Open Office 2.3 on an Acer Aspire One netbook using Linpus Linux Lite operating system.

I have the desired font to download on a USB stick but I can not find the fonts file within the netbook to download the font to, as I would in XP.

Is there a way to activate the font file so I may add a font as and when I please?
