ive found out (through yahoo answeres) that using bittorrent to download a film is illegal if it still is protected by its copyright. But how do i find out if its still copyrighted before i download it?
bitorrent is not illegal .. it depends on the content entirely.
most major productions are protected by the federal copyright act in the US..

it would help if we knew what the move in question was.. but if it was developed or produced by sony or warner etc you can bet its protected by copyright law. however, documentaries and stuff like that are generally more lenient.
