Never mind the other posters talking smack. I would suggest VLC. It is the best program for viewing weird formats. It is great and free. I'm not familiar with xvid, but VLC hasn't failed me on any format yet. xvid may be a form of divx and therefore you may need a dvix plugin and then be able to play that video in quicktime.
