.RAR is a compressed file type much like .ZIP You will not be able to open it without the right software. It originates with a free program you can find using Google called WinRar. Unpack the files using that software. If it is a group of files with a sequence of numbers, unpack all of them to the same destination. It will then be in the format it was before being compressed (such as .avi, .mp3, .iso) Good luck!
