It's an old family computer - Intel Celeron 2.4, 1 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, Nvidia FX 5200.
It's not the fans, not the hard disk or any other drive and not the PSU. I'm fairly certain it's not some moving part and is coming from the area around the processor area instead. It seems to increase in intensity upon increased load to the system but is continuous.
It's very whiny and high pitched and irritating. It's driving me mad. However, it doesn't seem to bother my family–they barely notice it. Which means I cannot make them not turn on the machine, which means I'm bound to suffer for eternity.
I NEED TO FIX THIS!
