Whenever I put my foot on the brake, or even when I don't have my foot on either the brake or accelerator, the car makes a loud squeaking noise. It sounds like something is wrong with the tyres. When I accelerate the noise disappears. The noise is particular loud when I turn a corner.
I have had the car serviced and have asked the people at two car service places what could be causing the noise, and one didn't know the other suggested something was wrong with the scaling of the tyres or something (a common problem with old cars?) and they ground back the wheels but if anything it only made the noise more apparent. The brake pads (I think that is what they are called) have been replaced as well.
I have been told that nothing serious is causing the noise. The car is 10years old and has done a lot of km.
