How can I tell if a truck uses diesel or not?

I'm looking for trucks on craigslist for my boyfriend as a surprise and I know he doesn't want a diesel truck, because it'll cost too much, but I am completely inept when it comes to cars and trucks, so I how do I know if it's diesel or not?
