How Can I tell if my bluetooth headset is working on my ps3.?

I am playing cod4 online , I can hear people talking on my bluetooth headset . but not sure if I am being heard. Is there a way to see if my headset is working, without setting there and repeating " can you here me , can you here me now" and sounding like a fool. thanks
 
If you can hear people, your headset is working. They have either muted you, or have ignored you.
If you look at my source, you may not trust my answer, BUT, I can tell you, USUALLY when I can't hear people through the headset, my Microphone Connected icon disappears, and I can't talk. I can hear them via TV speakers, though.
