How can I tell if my SUV has 2WD or 4WD?

Hey, I drive a 2005 Ford Escape Limited Edition, but i am unable to determine which type of drive it has. On the dashboard panel, it says 4WD, but there is no control switch to operate it. I checked the manual but it is vague and states both models with 2wd and 4wd. Another possibility the manual states is Power Disturbution 4WD where it detects when to turn it on.
If anyone knows how to determine this, please inform me. Thanks
