How can I transfer recorded shows from my DirecTV DVR to my computer?

I recently purchased a DirecTV package and got the new HD DVR box. I have a ton of hockey games and shows on the DVR and would like to transfer them to my computer to reformat and burn to dvds, etc. Does anyone have any information on how to do this? Tutorial? Pictures? Screenshots?

Not sure if that video capture card is going to work for you. It depends on how the signal comes out of the dvr. If you think that it will come out of the usb port, you will find out that the usb port does nothing and is for future use.

I would go with method 2 and get a nice dvd recorder. By the time you pay for the cables to access your cpu, you could buy the device and not worry about all the formatting junk.
