How can I turn off the beeper on my timex 1440 sport watch?

I have a timex 1440 sport watch (says 143 SS on the back) and I can't figure out how to turn off the chime. Every time I press a button, it beeps. I would really like to not have it do that. The watch has pink on the sides of the face and the band is grey. I checked the instructions and it doesn't say anything about turning off the chime. Can anyone help please?
