I installed explorer 8 now I want my old home vista basic back?

Install a different browser first in case the uninstall of IE gets screwed up. Try Firefox or Opera or Safari.

Go to Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs (it might also just be be Programs) and scroll down to IE 8 and uninstall.

Open one of the other browsers and go to microsoft to Download IE 7.

Internet Explorer is a browser.
Windows Vista Home basic is an Operating System
Internet Explorer is an integral part of Windows and cannot be fully uninstalled. If you see IE8 in your programs list, you can uninstall it and the previous version IE7 will automatically come on in its place

Just uninstall it like regular program
from add/remove in control panel
