How can I use the Jogging Buddy feature on my LG Renoir(KC910)?

The phone can't seem to lock onto the satellite, and eventually just comes up with the message "Failed to set up GPS connection. Try again? Yes/No". I've tried switching between "Assisted GPS" and "Stand Alone" in the GPS type under connectivity. Has anyone else had this problem and worked out how to fix it?
 
My jogging buddy works fine, im on the virgin Australia network. But im not sure if using the jogging buddy uses money or not.
