how come my computer stereos wont work?

They turn on, that green plug and other plugger are connected good. So whats wrong? I have a home set computer and science Tuesday my stereos we're not working can you help?
P.s- I have a windows x p.
 
is the volume on your computer and speakers both on?(if the computer volume is down or muted you can have the speakers turned all the way up but will not get a sound-also is your speakers plugged into the wall?(if your speakers have a 110v wall plug of course))-first thing to check ;)
 
Check to see if the master volume is muted. There is also usually a volume icon on your tool bar. click on that and see if the volume bar is at the bottom or close to it or if IT is muted. I would also check the connection to your power source and the input to your computer.
