How come the guys of Gossip Girl have to wear uniform but not the girls?

At their school, the guys all wear the same thing but the girls wear pretty much anything they want.
 
because it is a show created for females and females like to see a guy in uniform

The girls' dress code is pretty loose. They can trick out their uniforms all they want, but the guys just don't have the desire to add Accessoriess (except Chuck's scarf). The girls always wear a plaid skirt or jumper (haha funny word), though.
