...applause when he makes a point? He says, "Let's give the Lord a hand!" in order to get applause. He even does that after the band plays. Since when did praising God involve applause? What's up with this preacher language, interpreted as 'Come on somebody, pronounced as "Comaowne sumbodah!"
And tongues -- how can you tell when they're for real? A friend of mine who's not even in a religion was speaking in the same tongues pastors do while I was praying for my sister and when he joined in. They sounded like real tongues to me.
So, why does the pastor use crafty methods to get applause and when can I determine when these 'spiritual' manifestations are real? As far as I know, if someone gets a manifestation from God, it'll most definitely be utilitarian, serving or pertaining to some purpose. Random and useless manifestations may be demonic.
