People hang glide from the mountain near me. They also use it for fell running, hiking and studying the flora and fauna. In the past people used to dig peat from the bogs, dry it out and burn as fuel to heat their homes.
I live in Utah surrounded by mountains. People ski (downhill and cross country), snowboard and sled/inter-tube throughout the winter. In the summer people hike, backpack, water ski in the reservoir and lakes, and fish. In the fall people hunt deer and birds. In all seasons people ride ATVs, and in the winter they ride snowmobiles. Also in the summer people raft or canoe down mountain rivers. Artists paint, photographers take pictures, bird watchers watch birds. People ride trams to the top of the mountains. People watch ski and snowboard competitions. People bike. People camp and picnic.
