How do i add all my contacts from an old email address to a new email address on msn?

okay so i saved my contacts list from my old account and then imported it into my new msn account. However msn wont seem to add majority of the contacts as many of my friends have not even recieved notification that i have added them.

Does anyone have any idea what's wrong?
