How do I choose what Blu-Ray is right for me?

My TV is 1080i. I've had people tell me to get the PS3, I already own a 360 so the gaming console really is that great of a bonus for me. So I want to know is a PS3 really a good player, or should I buy a different one. I also would like to not spend over 400 dollars for one. Thanks.
 
ps3 is the only blu-ray player that is 400.00. And since blu-ray won the war over HDDVD they will probably not lower there costs any time soon. The blu-ray player on ps3 is perfect. There are no problems. However to get the HD you will have to get component cables for about 25.00. No biggy. Ps3 is actually better than 360. They are just barley tapping the ps3's graphic cell processor and true 1080p HD. 360 is at it's max for graphics and the ps3 is right up there with them at the moment.
 
You should get a PS3 for a Blu-ray player. It does so much more than a standalone Blu-ray player and at the same price of a standalone Blu-ray player. Plus you get a gaming system as a bonus. You don't even have to use that one to play games on it but you might as well use it for games as well because there are lots of exclusive games coming out for later this year so that's a good deal to buy a PS3 for both gaming and HD movies. Plus online gaming is free unlike where you have to pay $50 a year for Xbox Live for 360. The PS3 costs $400 (you might be able to get it slightly cheaper at some stores) so it's right for your wallet.
 
Well as of right now, the PS3 is a blu ray player, but with so much more. If you just want to use it as a standalone blu ray player, and play some PS3 games, watch HD movies, pictures, nmusic, intrernet etc, get a PS3.

But if you're not that much into gaming and dont have alot of memory cards like the SD and such, play PS2 games, and use it for computing, get a 40gb PS3. A 40gb only has 2 USB ports, no PS2 backwards compatibility, and no memory card readers. But all PS3 have Blu-Ray.

If you want to spend that extra 100, get an 80gb PS3, it has PS2 backwards compatibility, 4 USB ports, and memory card readers. This is the same as the 60gb, except more GB and less PS2 playback.

A regular Blu-Ray player costs about what? 1 grand? And it can only play blu ray movies. While as a PS3 is a blu-ray player, AND it can play games, play videos, pictures, music, friends, internet, demos etc. You will find it similar like the XBOX 360â„¢, except with blu-ray, free internet, and much more.
 
dude its soooooo pointless getting just a blu ray player a ps3 is basically the cheapest blu ray player and its like getting a free console with a blu ray player plus u can go on the internet :) and the ps3 can support 1080p if u get hdmi cables
 
first let me tell u that u need to buy $20 component cables to display blu ray up to 1080i. hdmi is not necessary for u cuz u don't have 1080p anyway. well, i have a ps3 and it is indeed a very good player and has not given me any problems playing movies. it does not upscale dvds to 1080i, they will display in 480p which is enhanced definition.
although there r blu ray players that have slightly superior video and audio quality, those r the premier ones that are at least $900. anyway, u will be wasting ur money on those cuz u only have a 1080i tv anyway and it won't do u any good. the ps3 is definitely the best $400 blu ray player on the market. this is because it is the ONLY plaayer that has blu ray 2.0 feature which allows u to download/view bonus content on the disk. this is extra bonus features that the new blu rays will have and only the ps3 allows u to access this feature. so ps3 is the best bang for ur buck
